The Virtual University College of Teacher Education - as a federal centre since 2011 located at the University College of Teacher Education Burgenland - is an innovation hub for digital educational trends and a support partner for all universities and university colleges of teacher education. On behalf of the Ministry of Education, it supports and advises them in the implementation of innovative digital teaching and learning concepts. It develops and tests online formats and their use in teacher training and further education and ensures the transfer of know-how regarding digital competences in higher education teaching. Furthermore, various initiatives by the Ministry of Education, such as Digital Basic Education | digifolio | digikompP | MOOCs and others, are supported.
This enables tailor-made digital teaching and learning for university teachers and locations, lecturers and students. One-hour live online expert lectures (eLectures), intensive online-seminars lasting several weeks, and compact self-study materials (CoffeeCup Learning, review of eLectures) can be used free of charge and integrated into one's own teaching. Customized formats formats are also offered in cooperation with individual universities of teacher education. In addition, the online-conference #digiPH is organised annually with a concentrated special programme for university lecturers.
